Dental Anxiety: How to Overcome This at Lake Mary Dental

Your smile is our top priority here in Lake Mary FL, and we strive to make your visit worth your while. We highly recommend you go to our dentists in Lake Mary to address your oral health. Our dental office will address each and every one of your dental emergencies with our top quality dental care.

Through the use of modern dentistry, our clinic wants to make your experience as comforting as possible. Our dentists and staff are aware that dental anxiety is prevalent in all people.

Our goal at Dentist of Lake Mary is to make our patients feel like they are in good hands. About 20% of American adults get nervous before going to the dentist. Common fears are pain, shots, panic when hearing the drill sound, and many more reasons.

There are many downsides to avoiding going to the dentist, and our Lake Mary Dental clinic wants you to be in top hygiene. Avoiding the dentist because of anxiety can lead you to a number of issues within the mouth.

Issues include cavities, a buildup of plaque or tartar, discolored teeth and more oral infections. Here at our dental office, we like to keep the ambiance as pleasant as possible. During your time here, you are welcome to bring your own audio devices for comfort.

We play light pleasant music in order to create a comforting environment for our patients. We also suggest that to reduce anxiety at the dentist, you should bring someone you trust along with you.

To avoid letting your imagination run in many directions before your appointment, we suggest you bring a book or a magazine. Reading materials provide a great distraction pre-appointment. Reading before going to the dentist is a great way to reduce stress.

If you are undergoing surgery of any kind, we suggest you talk to your dentist about the proper sedation for you. Oral sedatives and nitrous oxide are two ways your dentist will calm you down or put you to sleep.

Make sure to look out for your personal well being while you are in the office. You must talk to your dentist about your comfort concerns so they can accommodate your needs. Pain free should be your reality when visiting the office.

Never be afraid to ask your dentist questions, you should always be updated on what procedures your mouth will undergo. If you are feeling like your heart is racing during your appointment, always ask if you can take some time to relax.

Dental anxiety should not be the cause of avoiding having a beautiful smile here at our Lake Mary Dental clinic. When you are in the dental chair, take deep breaths and invite in distractions that you can focus on. In addition to deep breaths, it always helps to talk out your anxiety with your dentist.

Visualization techniques while sitting in the chair are also very helpful. We hope these tips are helpful before your first appointment at Dentist of Lake Mary. To schedule an appointment, call 407-606-5001 or visit our website.

My girlfriend told me to go to Dentist of Lake Mary. She’d had a great experience, and so did I. I wasn’t convinced when I first went, but the staff and services were great. The dentist didn’t do anything without telling me exactly what was going to happen. Each new step was explained in detail. I don’t like dental visits but this was definitely my best experience yet. I won’t go anywhere else.

A friend recommended Dentist of Lake Mary. That’s why I went. I wasn’t expecting anything different from any of the other dentists I have gone to. But was I pleasantly surprised. I’ve already had a really good experience during my first couple of my visits there. From the front desk to the doctors and staff, everyone is beyond friendly and patient. I’m sticking with Dentist of Lake Mary.

Every member of the staff at Dentist of Lake Mary was informative, friendly and helpful. Even though it was my first visit, the dentist went out of the way to make sure I knew what was going to happen and was there anything else the staff could do to make me more comfortable. The dentist explained every step in detail. Since I was having a root canal, I was very nervous, but everyone at Dentist of Lake Mary made sure I was OK. Just a great atmosphere and vibe in the office, and that’s a first for me at a dentist’s office.
